Venturing into Vietnam

In 2023, Company A, which specializes in electronic product packaging, responded to the industry's gradual shift towards Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam, by setting up a production facility there. At the onset of this project, the company was tasked with sourcing a variety of equipment globally and rapidly transporting them to their Vietnamese plant for setup and calibration. SUMEC-ITC, demonstrating proactive resource coordination, swiftly assisted the client in selecting suppliers and procuring offset printing machines, high-speed cutting equipment, and more. Notably, some of them were eligible for tariff reductions under the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. SUMEC-ITC promptly helped the client with the necessary certificates of origin and other documentation. Moreover, considering the customs and transportation challenges in Vietnam, SUMEC-ITC formulated a comprehensive "door-to-door" cross-border logistics strategy to guarantee equipment delivery, leveraging logistics resources from both China and Vietnam to cut down customs clearance time from the average seven days to just two. This strategy significantly reduced the client's waiting costs, ensuring an efficient equipment setup and on-schedule production commencement.
