The Added Value of Enterprises above the Designated Size Nationwide grew by 3.6% Year-on-Year in 2022: The Industrial Economy Regained Stability.

In 2022 with China's industrial economy stabilized and improved, the support and contribution of industry to the national economy were further enhanced; the resilience of industrial development was further strengthened; and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises specializing in new products was further accelerated.

The industrial economy plays the role of a pillar
In 2022, China insisted on prioritizing stable growth, taking multiple measures to expand investment, promote consumption, stabilize foreign trade and making great efforts to ensure a stable supply chain and industrial chain, which was crowned with success. The industrial economy recovered and maintained a steady growth momentum, manifesting its role as a pillar.

In 2022, the added value of enterprises above the designated scale nationwide increased by 3.6% year-on-year. Among them, the added value of the manufacturing industry rose 3% year-on-year, and investment in manufacturing grew by 9.1% year-on-year. The value of export delivery of enterprises above the designated size increased by 5.5% year-on-year. The industry contributed 36% of the total economic growth, a handsome number in recent years. It drove economic growth by 1.1 percentage points, including 0.8 percentage points from manufacturing. The proportion of manufacturing’s added value to GDP reached 27.7%, up 0.2 percentage points from the previous year.

In 2022, China’s manufacturing industry moved faster toward high-end, intelligent, and green development and deepened restructuring, transformation, and upgrading.

The production and operation of small and medium-sized enterprises are stable in general
In 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology established a gradient cultivation system for high-quality SMEs, supporting 8,997 national “small giant” SRDI enterprises and more than 70,000 provincial SRDI small and medium-sized enterprises. It also carried out the “Benefit Enterprises Jointly” SME service program, serving more than 50 million SMEs (times). A survey of more than 1,800 “small giant” enterprises shows that from January to November 2022, the profit rate of operating income of “small giant” enterprises was 10.7%, which was 5.2 percentage points higher than that of enterprises above designated enterprises.

Accelerate the development of a new type of industrialization
In 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will focus on expanding demand, promoting circulation, supporting enterprises, strengthening dynamic energy, and stabilizing the expected economic growth. Meanwhile, it will also promote the development of industry and information technology and accelerate the development of new industrialization.

In accelerating the scaling of the industrial Internet, it will deepen the integration of the digital economy and the real economy, ensure the successful conclusion of the “Three-Year Action Plan for Industrial Internet Innovation and Development (2021-2023)”, and effectively carry out the project for industrial Internet innovation and development.

In promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of the manufacturing industry, it will formulate and issue the “Guidance on Accelerating Green and High-Quality Development of the Manufacturing Industry”. Meanwhile, it will also launch specific programs for industrial energy conservation and carbon reduction, including pilot projects such as green industrial microgrids and digital carbon management systems.
